KGA Honoring the Promise Collection

Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and Kelly Gale Amen Design have come together to create the opportunity to honor all who have shown the strength, lived the promise and fought the battle against breast cancer.

The Susan G. Komen for the Cure Honoring the Promise Collection allows you to dedicate a functional art piece to those who have been touched by breast cancer.  This special collection includes benches, planters, chairs & tables.

This collection is tangible evidence to the fulfillment of the Komen promise to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures.

Kelly Gale Amen is an artist whose pieces are permanent fixtures at the Stafford Air and Space Museum in Weatherford, OK, the State Art Collection of Oklahoma, the Looscan Library in Houston, TX and the Eleanor Tinsley Park in Houston, TX.

“I saw Kelly Gale Amen Art Furniture as legitimizing my dream and the idea of the accomplished dream itself,” says Kelly Gale Amen. “My work is in support of hope and practical achievement.  It is the efforts of Susan G. Komen for the Cure that requires awareness, energy and funding.  My pieces are commemorations and memorials, yes, but also milestones on the highway connecting hope to reality.  I gladly share passage on this route with Komen for the Cure.”

An Unsolicited Comment

I just wanted to mention that I saw your display of the "Honoring the Promise Collection" at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Houston. I want to personally thank you for your support of this wonderful event. My wife is a survivor and this was my first time attending race. I was blown away by all the women dealing with this disease and hope we do see in our lifetime "A world without breast cancer".

I took a photo of one of your benches and added it to my Flickr account. Thanks again for your support.

There are three ways in which Affiliates can utilize the Honoring the Promise Collection:

  • Affiliates have the opportunity to sell these one-of-a-kind pieces in the same manner as other Komen Promise Shop items and will receive the total amount paid less the cost of production and shipping for any piece of the collection sold through their efforts. Komen Affiliates can sell pieces from the collection by having interested parties simply fill out an order form, securing payment and verifying delivery address, as the consumer will be taking possession of the bench upon completion. Copies of the order form can be picked up at the Kelly Gale Amen booth during the Partner Showcase, as well as marketing materials and detailed instructions for processing orders.  All of this information can also be found on Affiliate Corner in the coming weeks.
  • These functional art pieces can also be used as items for silent auctions held during Affiliate events.  The Honoring the Promise Collection is made-to-order and offers the opportunity for individuals to bid on exceptional art pieces created to honor those affected by breast cancer.  A sample bench can be shipped to your Affiliate to be included in the auction.
  • The Honoring the Promise Collection can be part of Lifelong Honor recognition fundraising efforts, as Affiliates can commission pieces from the collection on behalf of a donor. These pieces can be placed by Affiliates at such places as their Headquarters or for inclusion in community projects like a Survivor Garden in a public park.

3 specific ways to utilize this opportunity:

Scenario 1:  Affiliate sells directly

  • Step 1:  Share the opportunity throughout your Affiliate
  • Step 2:  Have buyers complete the order form or Affiliates may complete on their behalf
  • Step 3:  Secure payment information and process order
  • Step 4:  Send order form to Kelly Gale Amen Design along with payment of cost to create, personalize and ship the piece
  • Step 5:  Purchaser will receive piece upon its completion

Scenario 2:  Affiliate would like to use it in a silent auction and purchaser takes possession of the piece from the collection for personal use

  • Step 1:  Contact Kelly Gale Amen Design and request a sample bench to be used for display purposes.  If a bench is available secure shipping methods for necessary delivery times.  If a bench is unavailable please utilize marketing material provided on Affiliate Corner to create a display.
    • The Fair Market Value of the aluminum bench is $5000. If a bench is sold for more than the Fair Market Value, the purchaser will receive a tax letter. Language in regards to the amount generated by the auction and the cost to create the item must be used as disclosure, such as “Affiliate will pay $xxxx for the personalization of this functional art piece.”  Please note that if piece does not sell, Affiliate only needs to ship sample bench back to Kelly Gale Amen Design, and is not held accountable to purchase
  • Step 2:  Have buyers complete the order form or Affiliates may complete on their behalf
  • Step 3:  Secure payment information and process order payment. If necessary, Affiliate will send purchaser a tax letter
  • Step 4:  Send order form to Kelly Gale Amen Design along with payment of cost to create, personalize and ship the piece
  • Step 5:  Purchaser will receive piece upon its completion

Scenario 3: Affiliate is using the collection as part of an Honor Recognition Fundraising Effort (the Affiliate must choose the place where the piece is going and the donor will not take possession. This is not for personal use.)

  • Step 1:   Share the opportunity with members of your Affiliate
  • Step 2:  Affiliates will commission the piece on behalf of a donor and will complete order form on their behalf
  • Step 3:  Secure payment information and process payment
  • Step 4:  Send order form to Kelly Gale Amen Design along with payment of cost to create, personalize and ship the piece
  • Step 5:  Upon completion of the piece Affiliate is responsible for sending the donor a tax letter for the full purchase amount
  • Step 6:  Affiliate will receive piece and in a location of their choosing, not to be in the possession of the donor on whose behalf the piece was commissioned
